It’s amazing to me to think there were numerous men employed in producing this knife back during the Depression Era.  The tang stamp dates this Imperial Providence, RI USA knife to 1930 – 1936, right smack dab during the depression.

I want to know what these guys were thinking.  They must have considered themselves, very, very, very lucky to be employed and bringing home money to support their families.  In my mind’s eye, I see a man crouched over at the finishing wheel, with black under his finger nails, on his face and work clothes, focused on producing a high quality USA made knife that men and boys would love and use for outdoor excursions, (or missions as my grandsons and I call them today).

Now, this is not an “Official” Boy Scout knife, rather a type of knife that is the same as a scout knife would be, just missing the official stamping from the Boy Scouts of America!

Steel sahlute to those covered in steel dust during the Great Depression who produced this knife!

Get outside and live!!!
